How to Find and Play Razz Poker

I love to play poker, particularly Razz Poker. I think that it's the ultimate poker game. If you play Razz Poker, you really get a good feel for all the styles of poker. My favourite type of poker, is Hold'em, but I will play other poker games when I have the time. When you play Razz Poker, you must be aware of the fact that the lowest hand wins the deal, except in a tie. So, you need to complete your lower hand to win the deal. In addition, since you are dealt cards lower than your opponents, you also increase the odds against them. This is really good if you have A-A or K-K. Many players including myself likes to just stay in the game all the time, and like to chock off the big pots to our super-TAG-roll. I know, I know. You might just want to read some basic info and not worry about any of the complex questions. OK you're ready. Let's just define some terms. Tell-Tale Signs-

If you can learn to identify the tell-tale signs of what hand a player is holding, you will be able to guess per Surf-line what they have. You don't need to be a Math professor to recognize them. These are simple hand forces. Just watch for the "Scoop-orial" or " sprinkle". The user (anyone) asks the questions, and you respond with your best guess. Speed-Turn-24-Seven (or Ace-Nine... Sometimes, the renamed simply Ace-Nine) is a variant-spread-limit Hold'em game. Does your pre-flop raise speed up the game? If you can identify the "speed- Seventies" players, you will be able to guess the speed- Seventy-Seven. Just remember, you will never know what hand a player holds until you all stand up. If you think they speed up a little, that could be a tell. Big Blind- Big Blind- You will sometimes see the big blind labeled on a dealer button. It is a big blind, not a small blind. This is because the big blind often takes a larger part of the total stake than the small blind. Hands- At a certain point in a tournament, you will have a set of more than one card value. For example, you might have "Ace-Eight, Deuce-Ten, Queen-Ten, King-Ten, Ten-Five, Nine-Four, Eight-Five, Seven-Four, Six-Three, Five-Three, Queen-Eight, King-Nine, Ten-Four, Nine-Five, Eight-Six, Seven- Six, Six-Five, Five-Six, Queen-Seven, King-Eight, and Ten-Seven. Respectively, these are called the "flop", "turn", and "river" respectively. If you don't recognize these hands, you can grab a card whenever you want. The quick way to grab a card is to have one on the table. If you wait for the next deal to get that exact card, you might not get it at the right time. Also, if you play multiple decks, you might not get the card you need to complete your hand. In situations like this, it is best to bet out rather than call to try to keep as many players in the pot. Your pre-flop bets and the size of your bet in relation to your pot chances is a good indication of what hands you should bet and what you should call or fold. Multi-way pots- Multi-way pots are trickier than trickier, especially in Razz. For example, if you have 5 players in the hand, and if you bet the size of a large blind, you will be considered to be playing the flop, not the seven. You want to make your bets the first clear sign of strong hand amongst the players in the hand. This is the best place to bluff. If you're in the hand with only one other player, your bet size should be significantly larger in relation to the pot odds. When you're trying to cover a large amount of money, going all-in may not be the best play. A good guideline for betting is to bet three times the size of the pot when you have a hand you're rather confident in. When you have a less than strong hand, you will frequently find that many players are bullied by stronger hands and they fold too often in fear of tactics. When you have the strong hand, you will win more hands and therefore win more money. Tilt- Are you a fan of adrenaline junkies? Do you have a lot of money in the pot?
